"A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving."
-- Lao Tzu
Creating mosaics is a wonderful journey, one that I began almost a decade ago. I make mosaics to play and to discover. It's fun to experiment, and mosaic is an art form that offers endless variety. New materials, methods and challenges are always around the corner.
My work is eclectic, arising from unexpected connections between the pieces of my experience. I'm inspired by travels in the American Southwest, Asia and Europe. By the natural colors of the Texas Hill Country. By the materials I collect: brilliant stained glass; cool, muted unglazed ceramic; beads; fossils and colorful patterned dishes that took a detour from the table to my palette.
Each mosaic carries a life of its own, and my work finds its way into homes far from mine. The right piece of art can become almost a part of the family. I love having my mosaics "adopted."
I'm grateful every day for this creative journey. I live in San Marcos, Texas with my husband, our two sons and our black Lab, Buddy. Thanks for visiting my website. I look forward to sharing more of my mosaics here.
